My metalwork has been mostly out of curiosity. I’ve made a pancerz (maille shirt or hauberk), several misiurkas (Eastern maille helmets), and two pair of karwashe (arm guards). However, my favorite karwasze were made by Eric of Polish Hussar Supply Plus (see the links page).
My hauberk or pancerz and one of my Eastern Maille helmets or misiurkas can be seen in this photo. I used Ferante's plans for the arming stand beneath the armour. I also stained it dark brown so it didn't stand out so much.
There is 500' of 16 gauge wire in the misiurkas -- it alone weighs about 6.5 pounds.
There is about 3,500' of 16 gauge wire in the pancerz -- that's more than half a mile of wire.
